British PM Cameron Expresses Outrage Over ‘Occupied East Jerusalem’


bicaWhile labeling himself a true friend of Israel, British Prime Minister David Cameron expressed outrage following his first visit to Arab areas of the capital, which he refers to as “occupied East Jerusalem”.

Cameron made his remarks during a parliamentary question session, responding to an opposition MP, Imran Hussain, who asked “Does the prime minister agree with me that illegal settlements and constructions are a major roadblock that hinder peaceful negotiations?”

Cameron replied, “I am well-known as being a strong friend of Israel, but I have to say the first time I visited Jerusalem and had a proper tour around that wonderful city and saw what has happened with the effective encirclement of East Jerusalem, occupied East Jerusalem it is genuinely shocking.”

He added, “What this government has consistently done and gone on doing is saying yes, we are supporters of Israel, but we do not support illegal settlements, we do not support what is happening in East Jerusalem and it’s very important that this capital city is maintained in the way that it was in the past.”

The remarks of from a strong Israeli ally come at a time there are growing BSD efforts in Europe and Britain, giving additional legitimacy to those efforts against Israel.

In a somewhat related matter, Former Chief Rabbi of England Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks speaker in the House of Lords in an effort to present a better understanding of the situation in the Middle East and Israel in particular.

  1. Mr Cameron, have you also visited the many people injured in terror attacs as well as the many widows and orphans of inocent people murdered by Imran Hussain’s friends – was that shocking, too?

  2. I agree with Mr. Cameron, East Jerusalem is currently occupied by people who don’t appreciate living in the only democracy in the Middle East.
