Blast of Windy, Wintery Weather Moves Through Tri-State Area


weatherA line of storms has been bringing powerful winds that have caused damage and outages across the Tri-State area.

A high wind warning is in effect for the area until 2 p.m.

Meteorologist Amy Freeze says the area could see damaging winds through early this afternoon, with gusts up to 60 mph.

Forecasters say widespread freezing temperatures are also expected for parts of the area through tomorrow morning.

Property owners in New York City are being told to secure their sites due to the high winds, and crane operations have ceased.

The system included some snow early Sunday morning, along with slick roads north of New York City.
