Amona Residents Insist They Won’t Be Bought Out

1According to a Haaretz report, a deal has been reached between Amana and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon for the evacuation of Amona in the Shomron in exchange for the construction of a new community to include 139 houses, which is significantly larger than Amona’s current 39 homes. The new community would be established near Shilo.

In response to the report, Amona officials have announced they will not be bought out and they do not plan to agree to any such deal, to buy them out in exchange for another community. The deal was negotiated with leading settlement official Ze’ev Chever, better known as “Zambish”.

In line with a ruling by the High Court of Justice, Amona is to be uprooted after it was determined that it was built on private Arab-owned land. Despite the imminent expulsion, the residents have made it clear, that they reject the deal negotiated by Zambish, insisting he does not represent them.

  1. The courts have ruled and they are illegally occupying property owned by others. They must be made to comply with the court ruling, by force if necessary. They have been offered a very generous buyout proposal and if they decline, they should simply be dragged out and left to fend for themselves. Their actions are also diverting security forces from much more important issues of protecting the medinah from terrorists and this circus should not be allowed to continue
