Eida Comes Out Against Deal Between Chabad And The IDF As Well As Effort To Silence Protestors

3Recently, there have been numerous protests at the home of Kiryat Gat Chief Rabbi Moshe Havlin Shlita for being among the Chabad rabbonim signed on an agreement with state officials by which Chabad Talmidim will serve in the IDF.

There is opposition to the agreement both from within and outside the Chabad community. Among the opposition in Chabad are Rabbi Zalman Gopin Shlita of the main Chabad Yeshiva in Kfar Chabad and HaGaon HaRav Moshe Yehuda Leib Landau of Bnei Brak Shlita, who explains the Rebbe Z”TL ZY”A was adamantly against IDF service and that no Chabad rav has the authorization to make such an agreement.

In this past Erev Shabbos edition of “The Eida”, the Eida Chareidis in the cover story speaks out against ongoing government efforts to bring chareidim into the military. It speaks about the new unit of paratroopers for chareidim only, citing the photo R”L shows persons with peyos and beards, entering the IDF of the Zionist state.

The Eida also comes out against those “trying to silence the voice of opposition” against those protesting outside Rabbi Havlin’s home. The magazine writes “Jewish blood and neshomos aren’t hefker” and the Eida will not tolerate those trying to silence the protests against the deal signed between Chabad and IDF authorities.

The Eida comes out officially supporting the protests outside Rabbi Havlin’s home, citing Rabbi Havlin is a prominent rov in the Chabad community in Eretz Yisrael. The Friday article praises the protestors, who traveled to Kiryat Gat to protest against a deal that should not have been signed.

The Eida also calls for supporting the protests as well as giving a chizuk to those arrested and being held without bail pending trial for their actions when breaking into Rabbi Havlin’s home during one of the protests.

  1. Much of Chabad has been moving towards the zionists since the late 20th century. It should also be note that much of Chabad works to build up Jewish communities in the diaspora, including in countries that are other than friendly to Israel. One can’t be pro-zionist and also pro-diaspora/anti-aliyah suggesting these factions of Chabad will eventually develop into separate movements.

  2. When simple folks get involved in the disagreements between Rabbonim and their differing decisions, all of klal Yisroel suffer. Rabbanim DO differ!

However it is not for one group to stage a physical protest against a Rabbi from an opposing side.

The Eida has slipped up and is a disgrace for supporting Jewish terror to make a rabbi change his mind or for having a halachic decision that differs.

Rabbis have disagreed for centuries and Judaism has grown from the differing opinions. Stiffling is what the Muslims do.

Looks like the Eida likes the methods of the goyim.

  3. So the Eida endorses breaking in to homes, physical attacks on Rabbonim & others because they don’t agree with their views? Thugs & animals & that includes Their Gvaadim etc.

So. I am now stopping to buy Eida products, until/if they stop ratifying violence against Chabad, soldiers, chilonim, women, police etc etc etc. Let THEM start behaving as the G-d fearing people they purport to be, & they may regain respect. They are despicable.

  4. #2 It’s not the Eida who has slipped up but the so-called Chabbad Rav who respects the law of the land over the laws of Torah and disregards the derech of the previous Rebbe who was 100% against this Rav’s shita.

    #4 A naive old bubby

  5. Havlin is a collaborator with the IDF Shmad Organization, causing the Rebbe zt”l to spin in his grave.

While sadly YWN readers have an apathetic outlook regarding the IDF Shmad Organization, the Eida is heavily involved in lo samod al dam re’acha to save Jewish souls and their generations who are at stake.
