IDF Soldier Wounded in Kalandia Checkpoint Stabbing Attack

idfAn Arab resident of a Kalandia area village on Friday night attacked an IDF soldier at the Kalandia Checkpoint on a northern border of the capital. The attacker was fired upon by soldiers and killed.

The soldier was moderately-to-seriously wounded and transported to the trauma unit at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. Hadassah spokesperson Hadar Elboim reports on motzei Shabbos the soldier remains in moderate/stable condition.

The attacker approached on foot, entering the area intended for vehicles, police report. He then pulled a knife and began lashing out at soldiers.

Earlier, an Arab attacker armed with a knife approached soldiers near Negahot, a community in the Southern Hebron Hills. He tried stabbing Brigade Commander Colonel Itzik Cohen but soldiers detected his actions in time and managed to restrain him and take him into custody.
