Three Palm Springs police officers were shot, at least two fatally, while responding to a family disturbance on Saturday, prompting a manhunt for the suspect.
The Palm Springs Police department has not released details of the incident or the names of the officers involved. Multiple swat teams and officers have responded to apprehend the suspect, who is still at large.
Witnesses told the Desert Sun they heard between 10 and 20 gunshots from what sounded like machine guns. Patrol cars, fire engines and a SWAT truck were at the scene of the incident, the paper reports.
According to the Sun, Frances Serrano, who lives directly across the street from where the shooting took place, spoke to the father of the suspected shooter moments before the incident. The father told Serrano that his son, who has mental issues, had a gun and wanted to shoot police officers.
“He came over and asked for help,” she said.
Serrano called the police and the father walked back toward his house. Soon after, Serrano heard gunshots. Later police knocked on Serrano’s door.

What is the race of the shooter and the officers?
Why is he calling the police when he knows his mentality deranged son has a gun and wants to kill police. Totally irresponsible
