Stormy Protest in Jaffa Against Chilul Kevarim

It was a difficult day for police on Yeffet Street in the Jaffa area of Tel Aviv on Thursday as more and more chareidim arrived to protest the ongoing chilul kevarim.

While Israel Antiquities Authority officials announced recently that they would halt the excavations in the area of the kevarim, they have resumed their work, inflaming the chareidi community.

A number of arrests were made in Jaffa during the day. The violence spread to Shivtei Yisrael Street in Yerushalayim on Thursday night as garbage dumpsters were set ablaze. There were no reports of arrests at that location.

Atra Kadish officials earlier in the week blamed the chareidi media for continuing to accept ads from the Electra Company, compromising its chareidi boycott on the company’s products in response to its role in the Jaffa excavations.
