TEHILLIM – Frum Woman Critical After Lightning Strike In Catskills

A Frum woman in her 20’s was left in critical condition, and another person stable after a lightning strike in Morningside Park.

Just before 4:00PM on Sunday afternoon, a severe storm blew through the town of Hurleyville, and a woman boating on the lake returned to shore. An employee of Morningside Park began assisting the woman out of her boat, when suddenly a bolt of lightning struck them  – leaving them both in cardiac arrest.

Four employees of the park, some of them life-guards, heroically began immediately performing CPR on both of them, as Catskills Hatzolah, the FD from Hurleyville & Loch Sheldrake & Mobilemedics were rushed to the scene.

The woman was transported by Catskill Hatzolah Paramedics to CRMC (Harris Hospital) in “post cardiac arrest”, and was intubated by medics. She is R”L listed in critical condition at the hospital.

Please be Mispallel for Leah Nesha bas Baila Malka.

The employee of the park which was struck by lightening was transported in “post cardiac arrest” to CRMC – and was talking and fully responsive.

An additional 3 park employees were transported as well – after reporting that they reportedly felt some type of shock. They are all in stable condition.

  1. THE KOACH OF TEFILAH IS IN THAT IT CHANGES THE ONE DAVENNING. SINCE IT WAS THE ONE IN NEED WHO CAUSED THAT CHANGE, IT IS A MERIT FOR THEM, AND THEY MAY THEREFORE MERIT THE NEEDED REFUAH, YESHUAH, ETC. BUT THE TEFILAH NEEDS TO CHANGE THE PERSON DAVENNING. RABBOSAI, LET’S TAKE ON SOMETHING, EVEN IF ONLY FOR TWO DAYS OR TWO WEEKS. IN THAT ZECHUS, MAY LEAH NESHA BAS BEILA MALKA HAVE A REFUAH SHLEIMAH B’KAROV.

  2. What? Where did you get that from Shuali? I wasnt aware that we knew much about the power of Tefilla; how it works or why it works.Tefilla is a very mysterious and hard to understand concept. Please provide proof before writing about it, and perhaps wrongly influencing a person who may read your post.I will check back soon to read your sources.Thank you.

  3. There is plenty of places that bring down that when davening for another person it brings zechusim for the one davening on someonelse behalf and the recepient. There are gemoras that discuss this.

As for everytone always asking for proof and all this stuff its pure shtusim. If you only do things based on proof instead of doing things because its the right thing to do then there is something wrong.

I’m no tzadik but when I read about what happened to the worker and the woman I felt bad and when I went to daven mincha I said tehillim. I didn’t walk around asking people to bring me proof if tefillah helps and all this shtusim you ask. We would all be better off if every time we hear a tzara in klal yisroel to just daven on behalf of other people and don’t ask why, who, names and all the yenta type of questions.

May all the cholim in klal yisroel wake up tomorrow morning without any pain and may we be zoche to see moshiach speedily.

  4. To: ImustSteig – The contemporary source is either Rav Mtisyahu Solomon shlit”s or Rav Noach Weinber z”l. I will check it out for you and any other interested parties. I remember that they were quoting from earlier sources. I will check that out for you as well.

  5. Whether number 1 is right or wrong, it won’t help leah. One thing we do know is that there is a koach to tefilla, whether we know how or why it works is irrelevant, just daven.

  6. Imustshteig, you sure must try harder to shteig that’s for sure. Proof you need. How about Rashi who says that kol hamispalel be’ad chaveiro neene techila? Good enough?

  7. Tefillah helps because you are showing HKB”H that you are caring for another person. That’s why it’s so important to include Yidden and Non-Yidden in our Tefilohs, because if we exclude any other group, HKB”H could say that we only care about our own.

  8. HODU LO, BARCHU SH’MONTH – THE YOUNG GIRL IS REPORTEDLY SITTING UP, TALKING. AND RECOGNIZING PEOPLE! WE SHOULD ALL, ONCE AGAIN DAVEN, THIS TIME TO GIVE THANKS TO HKB”H.

  9. The source of Shaulis comment is Rav Matisyohu Solomon Shlita’s explanation of the words of his Rabbe Rav Eliyohu Lapian Zatzal. See sefer Matnas Chayim Maamorim chelek bais.
