Lakewood Police Issue 22 Summonses To School Bus Drivers In 2 Hours


Lakewood, NJ – As a result of numerous complaints from residents concerning the unsafe operation of school buses in Lakewood, this morning from 7:30AM – 9:30AM, a special Lakewood Police Department “traffic detail” was conducted to enforce observed violations by school bus drivers.

Chief Rob Lawson tells YWN that as a result of this detail, 22 summonses were issued for the following violations:

(14) Failure to wear a seat belt
(3) Cell phone violations
(2) Red Light violations
(1) Stop Sign violation
(1) Failure to exhibit Insurance Documents
(1) Improper Discharging of Passengers

Similar enforcement efforts will be conducted in the future to insure the safety of our children while traveling on school buses.
