NYC: Monthly MetroCards Purchased Before Dec. 30th Expire Tonight

Today is the last day to use unlimited MetroCards purchased last year before the fare hike.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says 30-day unlimited cards purchased before the December 30th fare hike expire tonight at 11:59 p.m., even if there is still days remaining.

The MTA raised the price of the unlimited monthly cards from $89 to $104.

Riders can get refunds for a portion of an expired card by picking up a pre-addressed, postage-paid envelope and claim form at subway station booths or onboard buses and mailing the MetroCard to New York City Transit.

For more information go to the MTA’s website at mta.info.
