Alaska Governor Refuses To Enact Obamacare

Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell says he will not enact the federal health care overhaul after a judge in Florida struck down the law as unconstitutional.

Parnell considers that ruling the law of the land, barring implementation in the state. He said the state will pursue options of its own instead.

President Obama is forging ahead with his health care overhaul despite a repeal push by Republicans in Congress and challenges in federal court. Medicare Administration Don Berwick said the budget includes $465 million to implement the law. Most of that would go to his agency, now taking the lead in carrying out Obama’s landmark coverage expansion.

It’s not completely clear what practical impact Parnell’s unusual decision will have.
