Plane Diverted To JFK Due To Cabin Pressure Problem

A problem with the cabin pressure forced an American Airlines flight from Boston to St. Thomas to divert to JFK Airport on Sunday morning.

Flight 883 landed without incident around 10 a.m.

American’s spokesperson Jim Faulkner said they are inspecting the plane, but they don’t expect to find any rips in the fuselage.

Passengers got on another St. Thomas flight that left at 1:30 p.m.

Friday, a Southwest jet carrying 118 people rapidly lost cabin pressure and made a harrowing but controlled descent from 34,500 feet, landing safely near Yuma, Ariz. Passengers recalled tense minutes after a hole ruptured overhead with a blast, and they fumbled frantically for oxygen masks as the plane descended.

Southwest said today it has cancelled 300 flights as the airline inspects 79 of its Boeing 737 aircraft. The move follows the cancellation of another 300 flights yesterday.
