According to police investigators, what was first believed to be a hit a run on Jerusalem�s Yirmiyahu Street on Monday was quite another matter.

An Arab male in his 20s, a resident of the eastern capital, tried to steal the woman�s purse. When she resisted, he got into the vehicle and drove off, striking her as he fled the scene and hitting a number of cars. The woman in her 30s was reported in serious condition on Monday night. The perpetrator was apprehended by police following a pursuit. Two people were injured as a result of that pursuit.

The women, who sustained a serious head injury, was transported by paramedics to the trauma unit of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. She remains in critical condition.
