Tuesday Morning News Briefs From Eretz Yisrael


20:34: A rocket fired from Hamastine (Gaza) landed in an open area in the Eshkol Regional Council area of S. Israel on Monday night. No injuries were reported.

20:38: Four Israeli diplomats reportedly returned to the Israeli Embassy in Cairo on Monday, ten days after being extricated from a mob in the building by an Egyptian commando force.

08:38: Dozens of Arabs marched in the town of Chawarah (north of Tapuach Junction) while hurling rocks at Israeli motorists. No injuries reported.

09:11: Rock-throwing attacks on the Chevron-Gush Etzion Road. No injuries reported.

10:16: 35 Illegal PA residents between the ages of 16-55 were detected in the Shfaram area during the predawn hours. After undergoing background security checks they will be sent back to PA autonomous areas.

10:30: Israel Radio reports Meah Shearim resident Moti Hirsch was taken into custody for allegedly seeking protection money from a local book store. He is a leading figure of the ‘sikrikim’ the report adds.

** Dozens of Arabs on Tuesday morning confronted IDF soldiers at Beit Omar north of Chevron, attacking them with rocks and bottles. Soldiers were ordered to use extreme restraint in dispersing them. No injuries were reported.

** A northern area resident who purchased his first ever lottery ticket with the help of the lottery agent won NIS 12 million. The man, whose identity is not released, is married and has two children and four grandchildren. He paid NIS 46 for the ticket.

** The Israel Consulate in Marseille, France was evacuated due to a bomb threat. (UPDATE) The Israel Foreign Ministry denies the consulate was evacuated, adding the incident with the Renault may not have been connected to the consulate at all.

** A 27-year-old resident of Yishuv Eli and 18-year-old resident of Kiryat Arba have been taken into custody in connection to ‘Price Tag’ attacks.
