Monday Morning News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


Nurses nationwide are taking part in a one-day warning strike to protest the severe overcrowding in the nation’s hospitals. They will operate on a limited Shabbos schedule during the strike.

** Hebron district police arrested for Arab juveniles on suspected involvement in firebomb and rock-throwing attacks.

** Following National Labor Court intervention, striking longshoremen in the Ports of Haifa, Ashdod and Eilat returned to work.

** Hundreds of factory workers are locked out after the Pri Galil Company has announced it is closing its doors. The Knesset Economics Committee is meeting to discuss the situation.

10:50: An 18-year-old female went into cardiac arrest on a bus on Jabotinsky Street in Bnei Brak. Ichud Hatzolah responded. She was pronounced dead in Schneider Hospital following resuscitation efforts.

** Today, 4 Adar, Israel marks the 20th yahrzeit of Prime Minister Menachem Begin z”l.

11:30: Dozens of patients were evacuated from Soroka Medical Center emergency room due to a fire. No injuries were reported.

12:31: Police now report seven suspects in custody in connection to the hate crime in Haifa, the beating of two IDF soldiers on Friday night.
