Israel: Election Briefs (May 2, 2012)


Realizing many of the Kadima MKs will not see the inside of Knesset following the general election; there is a movement to compel Tzipi Livni to launch another party.

** Shas leader Eli Yishai met today, Wednesday, 10 Iyar 5772 with opposition leader Kadima leader Shul Mofaz. The two are seeking a mutually agreeable date for national elections. Kol Chai Radio reports Yishai wants August, before slichos, explaining Yishai fears if the election process is too long, it will provide Aryeh Deri a forum to return to Shas.

** Former IDF Chief of Personnel (retired) Major-General Elazar Stern is advising Yair Lapid as he builds his new party.
