President Rivlin Decides To Reduce Punishment Of Meir Rabin


President Reuven Rivlin on Thursday, 14 Nissan 5777, decided to cut the prison term of Meir Rabin, who was convicted in the Holyland real estate scandal and sentenced to four years in prison.

According to the recommendation of the Minister of Justice Ayelet Shaked and the Ministry of Justice, the request for clemency submitted by Meir Rabin, according to which claims that led to the leniency of other defendants in the case, were not discussed in the case and were not expressed in the sentence.

It should be noted that in addition, personal and family circumstances that cannot be specified for reasons of privacy, which occurred after the sentence was handed down.

Rabin was convicted of paying bribes to then Deputy Jerusalem Mayor (Shas) Simchayof, who was already released from prison, as well as receiving bribes from Danny Dankner to give to relative Yaakov Efrati, a senior Israel Lands Administration official. Efrati was found not guilty in the case.
