Knesset Finance Committee Approves Benefits For 54 NGOs


The Knesset Finance Committee on Sunday, 14 Av, approved tax benefits for 54 NGOs. The committee approved tax relief on contributions given to bodies that comply with the definitions of Section 46 of the Income Tax Ordinance and Section 61 of the Land Taxation Law, which grant the possibility of granting the benefit.

Education, Welfare and Social Work, Culture, Religion, Science and Research, Sports and Activities to Encourage Employment and Vocational Training of Vulnerable Populations, Assistance to Public Institutions in Promoting their Economic, Organizational or Administrative Capacity and more.

Knesset Finance Committee Chairman MK Moshe Gafni said, “The Finance Committee sees great importance in assisting non-profit organizations that are filling the country’s place in assisting the public in many social areas, and sometimes they are the only bodies that provide solutions to citizens in various public matters.” The committee approved the benefits for non-profit organizations.

Senior Director of Public Institutions and Public Institutions at the Tax Authority, Erez Orad, presented the list of non-profit organizations and explained that “the list was brought to the Finance Committee after the organizations were examined and found to be in good standing and meet all the criteria required by law and that their activity is not contrary to the law They are entitled to receive tax benefits.”

The list of non-profit organizations that have been approved includes organizations from all over the country, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Moshav Itishia, Kfar Saba, Netanya, Rehovot, Bat-Yam, Rishon L’Tzion, Kfar Chabad , Elad, Petah Tikva, Shoham, Tzur Hadassah, Beit Shemesh, Givatayim, Maale Levona, Hod HaSharon, Ashdod, Mazkeret Batya, Deir al-Hana, Rechasim, Kiryat Gat, and Hashmonaim. The committee delayed the requests for tax benefits for two non-profit organizations that raised criminal suspicions against those who headed them, in light of Finance Committee member MK Mickey Levy’s request for an investigation.

Levy said that he does not want to blame someone but wants to conduct an examination of those associations. Therefore, the specific Amutot (NGOs) were removed from the list of Amutot and to the extent that it is found that there is no substance to the claims, it will be submitted for approval in the list of Amutot following the Committee’s approval. MK Gafni praised Erez Orad for the rapid handling of appeals by non-profit organizations to receive the benefit and said: “I commend you for the speed and efficiency of handling the applications of the non-profit organizations. it’s not taken for granted. The associations carry out important activities for the benefit of the public, for the benefit of the citizen, things that the state has withdrawn from their occupation, or which have been privatized. These are bodies that help ordinary citizens, especially those from the weaker sectors of the population, who have no one else to help them.
