IDF Central Commander Approved Expanding Authority Of Hebron Jewish Community

IDF Central District Commander Major-General Roni Numa signed an order to establish a municipal services administration for the Jewish settlement in Hebron. By virtue of the decree, a directorate will be established to represent the residents of the Jewish community in Hebron and provide them with municipal services in various fields.

For many years, the Hebron Jewish community operated a municipal committee that served as a local authority, with the municipal services of the community not defined under a defined authority, so that the residents often found themselves falling between the cracks.

It should be noted that the order was signed at the end of a staff meeting with the participation of the Military Advocate General, the Civil Administration, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of the Interior.

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who promoted the move along with Minister of Justice Ayelet Shaked, expressed satisfaction over the decision.

“We continue to work for the settlement of Yehuda and Shomron, as has been the case in the past year, which is the best for settlement in years. That the residents there fell between the cracks in everything related to the ongoing handling of the municipal matters of the yishuv, and that it was necessary to make a decision and implemented it. I remained determined to continue to advance the settlement so that it flourishes and flourishes, and this will be accomplished with responsibility and judiciously” Lieberman added.
