MK Eichler: Netanyahu & Barak Are Not Trustworthy

MK (Yahadut HaTorah) Rav Yisrael Eichler feels Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak are not trustworthy.

Speaking on radio on Tuesday night, the eve of 27 Menachem Av 5772 Eichler mentioned the two by name as referring to the “leaders of the country” upon whom we cannot rely. He questioned how they are capable of dealing with the Iranian threat and a possible Israeli military assault while there cannot give the appropriate order to military induction officials to avoid harassing avreichim as the state is now in an interim period during which a new draft law is being addressed. Eichler decries the fact that individual soldiers are left to “deal with” the chareidim who are now listed as absent without official leave from the military.

“Without a doubt we will begin doing everything we must to defense yeshivos and if it does not work via efforts to legislate a new law then let them hold a special cabinet meeting and make the necessary decisions. For certain we are not giving in on this issue”.

  1. Is there a hiddush here? If he said otherwise that would be newsworthy (indicating a trustworthy Israeli politicians which would indeed be unusual, or that a frum leader had lost his mind (raising a lashon hora issue) which could also explain things if he suddenly found them trustworthy). Stating that Barak and Netanyahu are other than trustworthy is not truely “news” since no one except a fool would consider them otherwise.

  2. is he for real maybe join the army and see how easy it is to strike another contry and put your children in danger not just others

  3. MK Eichler, let’s compare what you have done for Israel and what PM Netanyahu has done for Israel. After that, we will a clearer picture whether you have even the right to open your mouth.
