On Monday, October 30, a special gala event organized by the American Friends of Magen David Adom in Los Angeles, headed by Dina Leads, the Chairman of AFMDA in the West Coast. The evening was attended by over 1000 guests, and aimed to collect funds for the establishment of the new MDA national blood bank.

The special evening was participated by the couple Dr. Miriam and Mr. Sheldon Adelson, who made an exceptional donation of 12 million dollars for the establishment of the blood bank that will assist MDA in saving many lives. It is an extremely important donation as MDA isn’t funded by the Israeli government and is supported by donations.

The planned blood center will be the first of its kind. The underground facility will enable the expansion of MDA blood services and to provide full response to Israel’s medical and health systems in accordance to fluctuating demographics such as the natural population growth in Israel. This is a technological breakthrough, as the new blood center will incorporate new technologies in purpose of enhancing the preservation and safety of blood components.

MDA Director General, Eli Bin: “I would like to thank the organizers of the fundraiser, Dina Leads, the Chairman of AFMDA in the West Coast, and her husband Fred. Thanks to them, we were able to raise over 17 million dollars.

Another special, heartfelt thank you, goes to Dr. Miriam and Mr. Sheldon Adelson. The couple made generous donation of 12 million dollars in addition to five million dollars they’ve donated in the past, for the establishment of the new national blood center of Israel, assisting MDA to save lives in the country.”
