Left-Wing Holds Mega-Protest In Tel Aviv Against Likud Corruption Cases

One week after a massive protest against corruption in the government that took place in the heart of Tel Aviv, a second protest took place on Saturday outside Independence Hall on Rothschild Boulevard. The protest saw tens of thousands of people come out to show their disgust with the number of corruption accusations taking place against members of the current Knesset.

Many of the slogans attacked Prime Minister Netanyahu personally, with shouts of “We won’t give up until you resign,” “Bibi to prison for his actions,” “Bibi is against the country,” and others. Rothschild Boulevard as well as neighboring streets were closed to vehicular traffic as a result of the thongs of people protesting.

Organizers were also protesting the corruption case that is being investigated against coalition leader MK David Bitan as well as ongoing investigation against Netanyahu. A few dozen meters away from where the massive protest began, a counter-protest was being carried out by Likud supporters.

Sources within the Likud party castigated the protest which was taking place in Tel Aviv. A statement issued by the party read: “Instead of unifying the nation behind Jerusalem and showing the world a unified front, the left-wing cannot stay quiet and instead choose to deal with divisiveness. On the same night the Prime Minister defends Israel against the attacks following Trump’s declaration, and at the same time that protests against Israel take place across the Arab world where they burn the Israeli flag, the left-wing chooses this time to protest in Tel Aviv.”
