Protesters In Jerusalem, Tel Aviv And Haifa Call On PM Netanyahu To Step Down

Thousands gathered in Tel Aviv on motzei Shabbos while in Jerusalem Kikar Tzion, the crowd numbered fewer than 500. They protested government corruption and demanded the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who is under investigation in a number of cases.

The Jerusalem rally was small and few paid attention. The speakers included those who feel that were ‘burned’ by Mr. Netanyahu in the past, led by former Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon. He stated when asked “What keeps you awake at night”, the response “is not Iran but government corruption”. Former right-wing MK Prof. Aryeh Eldad also was counted among protestors in the capital.

In Tel Aviv, the crowd was left-wing and included BDS supporters. One person carried a large guillotine, which members of the political right feel was incitement to harm the Prime Minister.

There was also a protest of about 300 people in Haifa, most identifying with the dati leumi community.

PM Netanyahu is under investigation in a number of cases but to date, he has not been charged with any crime. Many feel if he is indicted in any of the cases he will have to step down.
