Two Killed in Wadi Ara Motor Vehicle Accident


United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom EMS personnel responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident that took place in the Wadi Ara section of Highway 65 on Thursday evening and claimed the lives of two people. A man in his thirties was killed as was a woman in her forties while one other passenger was critically injured and two others were seriously injured in the accident that took place near an access road that leads to Barta’a. Police sealed off the highway and are investigating the cause of the accident.

Paramedics who arrived at the scene declared the death of the two deceased people and with the other gathered EMS volunteers provided medical treatment to the injured who were taken by helicopter and ambulance to Hillel Yaffe hospital in Hadera.

United Hatzalah EMT first responder Sanaa Mahameed who is a resident of nearby Umm al-Fahm said: “The scene was shocking in its severity. This is not the first accident on this stretch of road recently, but it is one of the more serious ones that have occurred here recently.”

Assaf Tapuchi an MDA EMT first responder said: “The vehicles were completely crushed. In one vehicle three men were trapped, one who had no life signs, and the other two had sustained multiple system injuries. In the other vehicle were two women. One with no life signs and the other was fully conscious.”

Fire and Rescue crews succeeded at extracting all of the victims from the cars under harsh conditions of darkness and pouring rain. A passerby said that she found a dog standing next to one of the vehicles, and from what she could tell belonged to one of the victims. “I want to find the family of the victim so that I can at least return their dog.
