Honenu officials explain their presence in the High Court of Justice is “to make sure the number of bereaved families does not increase”.

The Salomon family on Sunday, 19 Shevat, petitioned the High Court of Justice demanding that the house of the terrorist responsible for the heinous attack be completely demolished, and not partially, for future deterrence and the prevention of further attacks.

In the hearing, Michal Salomon, Elad’s widow, appealed to the judges and asked that they instruct the IDF to complete the demolition of the terrorist’s house. At the end of the hearing, the Supreme Court rejected the decision to a later date.

After the discussion, Michal said, “We came to the court to request full destruction of the house of the terrorist, and the lawyer explained exactly all the reasons for this.

“At the end of the hearing, I turned to the judges and told them that we are here for one reason – we must create a deterrent capability in order to prevent the next attack, no one has any idea what it means to be a truly bereaved family, and we are here so that this family, the bereaved family will end, so that no new members will join. I hope that the court will really think about this, and will understand that the abandonment of human life begins here, by preventing deterrence ”

Attorney Chaim Bleicher of the Honenu organization, who submitted the petition to the High Court of Justice, stated at the beginning of the hearing, “It is important for us to do everything possible to eradicate the murderous Islamic terror. In this case of a brutal murder, the destruction of the house must have been absolute, to convey that terrorism would never pay off.

“Unfortunately, in the wake of the precedents in the IDF, there was a mistake in the interpretation, the state that erred and did not demolish the entire house, but we are going to prove it during the High Court of Justice.

Several other bereaved families came to the hearing to support the Salomon family’s request.
