VIDEO: Salesman Selling ‘Dangerous Toys’ And Fireworks Arrested Ahead Of Purim

(VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

An Israel Police spokesman for the Shvelah district reports arresting a man who was selling “dangerous toys and fireworks” ahead of Purim. As seen in the accompanying police video, detectives had the suspect, a Rehovot resident, under surveillance.

The Israel Police, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economics, conducted a focused enforcement activity against trafficking and the use of dangerous toys, including firecrackers, fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices.

The undercover detectives arranged to meet with the 27-year-old suspect, to buy items from him. At the end of the deal, the detective informed the suspect that he was being held for questioning. At the end of the deal, he was released to a five-day house arrest.

  1. I always was repulsed by the inclusion of fireworks in Purim celebration. It has absolutely no source in Torah practice. It was hijacked from the goyim who use it to celebrate various things. People are often lax about this, allowing their kids to purchase the stuff, bring it into shul, etc. I feel strongly that anyone caught selling these items should be reported to police and arrested. There are enough organizations that can insure that the perpetrators of this can hear Megilla reading in jail. Even users should be arrested.

This problem exists in America. I have not heard about any of our leadership banning this goyishe, potentially dangerous, and illegal practice.

No, I have zero support for the “Just let the kids have fun” line. It reeks of purely goyishe values, and has no place in any Torah family or community.
