Former PM Olmert Wants His Criminal Record Expunged

Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert submitted a request to President Reuven Rivlin to erase his criminal record, Amit Segal of News 2 reported.

Olmert was released about nine months ago from prison after serving 16 months. If President Rivlin responds to his request, the disgrace imposed on him will be lifted, which will enable him to return to politics.

After he was released from prison, Rivlin decided to partially ease Olmert’s sentence and canceled most of the restrictions he had imposed on him except for two restrictions that Olmert accepted, but did not erase the criminal record and the disgrace and rejected Olmert’s request for amnesty while he was imprisoned.

Spokesman of the President’s Residence said that “an application for clemency on behalf of Ehud Olmert was transferred today to the President’s Residence with a request to cancel the period of erasure of the criminal record in his case, [a period of seven years].

“The request has been forwarded to the relevant authorities for processing and after the necessary legal opinions have been submitted, the President’s decision will follow.”

  1. Surely, if Olmert has done proper Teshuvah then “zedonos naaseh c’zchuos” applies and he should win the Israel Prize …

  2. Should not be done!!!!! NOBODY should be above the law and he should suffer the consequences , just like anyone else……No more politics for a criminal !!!!!! (who continuously denied he had don anything wrong , when he was caught!!!)
