The updated promise was that the new fast train between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv would begin operating in September 2018, erev Sukkos. However, a source in the Ministry of Transportation now reports the train service will not begin until the middle of 2019, MyNet Jerusalem reports.

While Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz promised the train would operate by erev Sukkos, the unnamed source in the ministry is quoted explaining this is not going to happen, explaining “There is still a great deal of work to be done”. This includes Bridge 10 (over Emek Arazim), electric infrastructure, and it will not be completed by the September deadline given.

The same source adds that even when work is complete, there is a need for five-to-six months to certify the line, “a mega project” as the source is quoted saying. It is also added that prior to screwing in the last screw, testing must be done to certify the bridges can hold their load, sings must be set in place, emergency services must take part in training exercises to familiarize themselves with the new logistical challenges.

  1. They know that before all these things need to be done. It took to now 5 months before hand they will need another 14 months. Either somebody is stupid or they are trying to milk the job
