Israeli Minister Slams Royal Itinerary Calling Jerusalem ‘Occupied Palestinian Territory’

The status of Jerusalem in the royal itinerary for Prince William’s upcoming visit has angered an Israeli Cabinet member.

Jerusalem affairs minister Zeev Elkin wrote on Facebook Monday that a “distortion” cannot “change reality.”

The Prince is to visit Israel and the Palestinian territories next week, the first official visit by a British royal.

His schedule lists Jerusalem as part of the “Occupied Palestinian Territories.”

Israel captured east Jerusalem in the 1967 war from Jordan and annexed it in a move not internationally recognized.

  1. he should either apologize for the mistake or he should be uninvited, Israel doesn’t need a royal visit. Stay home!

  2. What’s the problem? Aren’t the so-called palestinians illegally occupying Israeli Territory?

I’ve lived in a lot of states in the US, and I’ve never seen any officials recognize and refer to multiple governments of the same plot of land. When an individual does so, and invents their own passport, like what occurred in Mississippi 2 years ago, they get arrested, not a seat at the UN.

  3. Especially hypocritical, as Britain recognized Transjordan’s offensive and illegal occupation and annexation of Yehuda and Shom’ron in clear aggression in 1948, yet failed to recognize Israel’s taking the area in DEFENSE in 1967, when they were attacked FROM it.
