Motzei Shabbos News Roundup From Israel


A balloon firebomb was found inside Moshav Ha”Rif which is located in the Yoav regional council some 22 miles away from the Gaza Strip. The balloon bomb was neutralized by a police sapper. Balloons with Arabic writing were located in Netivot and Ofakim on Friday. On Shabbos, a balloon bomb was found in the town of Srigim just a few miles south of Beit Shemesh. Police sappers neutralized the device. Israeli Police have issued warnings to citizens: “Not to touch the balloons until the arrival of police at the scene and to call the emergency number of 100 if anyone finds an object that raises suspicion.”

Firefighters and Keren Kayemet Personnel fought 24 fires over Friday and Shabbos that were started by kite and balloon bombs. In addition, 2 terrorists were killed during the protests along the Gaza fence on Friday by IDF forces who prevented them from cutting through the fence. Another 415 were reported injured with various injuries. Since the beginning of the protests and attacks against Israel, 134 Gazans were killed and some 15,200 were injured.

U.S. envoy to the Middle East, Jason Greenblatt, said on Friday that: “Iran’s financial support of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad are making matters worse in the Gaza Strip and is increasing the violence. It is time for a new way.”

A body was found floating in the Mediterranean just south of the marina in Herzliya. The body was transferred to the legal investigative department in Abu Kfir.

Police evacuated 150 hikers from Melachim Forest located near Kiryat Malachi after a  large fire broke out in the wooded area. Firefighters worked to control the blaze. Police helicopters were called in to assist in the evacuation.

Four firefighting jets were used to put out a fire that burned through part of a forest near the town of Zamar located in the Sharon valley.

Four firebombs were thrown at a car that was traveling between Karmei Tzur and an IDF  checkpoint south of the town in Gush Etzion. A couple with their infant were located in the car. Of the four firebombs, one hit the vehicle, luckily there were no injuries reported during the incident.
