PHOTOS: Israel Police Find A Million Shekels In Cash In A Vehicle’s Trunk

A Yarkon district Israel Police spokesman reports the discovery over 1 million shekels in cash in a bag in the trunk of a vehicle.

Police suspect the money was used to launder funds that are the product of criminal offenses.

In an operation conducted by the police on Sunday morning, 3 Menachem Av, near the Mandarin Hotel in Tel Aviv, police arrested a driver and found several grams of cocaine in his possession. In addition, they found a large bag containing no less than NIS 1 million in cash.

The suspect, a 41-year-old Netanya resident, was transferred for interrogation at the police station and was scheduled to be questioned on Monday by the Lahav Serious Crimes Unit along with the Israel Tax Authority agents.
