Security Officials Monitoring End of Mourning Period for Hizbullah Chief

Next week will mark the end of the 40-day mourning period observed by Muslims following the February 12th car-bomb attack that claimed the life of senior Hizbullah commander Imad Mughniyeh.

As the end of the mourning period approaches, security forces along Israel’s border to Syria and Lebanon remain on heightened alert status in the hope of preventing and attempts to escalate warfare along those areas.

Security will be heightened around the country this week in any event as the nation prepares to celebrate the Purim holiday, which in Jerusalem will be spread over three days, Friday, Shabbos and Sunday.

Security will be particularly high during those days in the capital, as Jerusalem is always a premier target for terrorists seeking to strike against civilian targets. In all likelihood a closure will be imposed on residents of Palestine Authority residents of areas throughout Yehuda and Shomron.
