Netanyahu Held Secret Meeting With Sissi In Egypt


Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a clandestine meeting in May with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Channel 10 news reports.

According to the report which quotes unnames American sources, Netanyahu flew on May 22 with a small delegation of advisors and security guards. He reportedly held meetings for a few hours, and participated in breaking the Ramadan Fast, before returning to Israel late at night.

The reports says the discussions surrounded the need for the Palestinian authority to return to Gaza and resume control as it was prior to Hamas. Also discussed was a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the easing of the Israeli and Egyptian blockades on the Strip and steps to advance humanitarian projects there.

Netanyahu and al-Sisi also discussed also discussed the Israeli citizens and bodies of two soldiers being held by Hamas in Gaza, and discussions surrounded the Trump White House peace plan – which has not yet been made public.

The trip remained top secret, and the report states that most of the Israeli Cabinet was never informed of the meeting.
