Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah Not To Meet Until After Yomim Tovim, Prime Minister’s Ultimatum Falls By Wayside

In spite of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s threat to dismantle the government should the Charedi parties not be able to come to an agreement regarding the IDF Draft law, the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah of Agudas Yisroel (Admorim Shlita), has decided that it will not convene for a meeting until after the Yomim Tovim. Thus, no agreement will be reached as the party will not proceed without the agreement of the Admorim.

Bechadrei Charedim reported that the main reason for the lack of a meeting being established by the Admorim is due to the intensive and continuous open meetings that the various Admorim are holding for their followers before Rosh Hashanah. Many Chassidim come to ask for blessings and advice from their Admorim prior to the Yomim Noraim.

Additionally, the Admor fro Viznitz is still recuperating abroad following a recent medical procedure in England.

Bechadrei also reported that there is an intention to switch the secretary of the council and relieve the veteran Rabbi Mordechai Stern from his duties. The change comes about following the request by numerous Admorim and it will be conducted in conjunction with a number of the MK’s from the Chareidi parties.
