Israel Police Issued 6,000 Summonses Nationwide in a Week


The Israel Police Traffic Enforcement Unit continues a wide enforcement campaign against traffic offenders, issuing about 6,000 summonses last week.

The police stated that: “In the framework of protecting the public safety of road users, the Israel Police is resolutely and uncompromising in its enforcement against the offenses of bullying and endangering life, which are a direct cause of road accidents and road casualties. The aim of the enforcement is to reduce the number of accidents and casualties.”

As noted, last week about 6,000 summonses were recorded by traffic police officers against drivers who committed traffic violations on interurban roads.

The police published the details of the enforcement data:
• In an activity combined with technological means against reckless offenses, about 900 drivers who used the mobile phone while driving without a hands-free apparatus was documented. The drivers received a fine of NIS 1,000 and 8 points on their license. In many cases, this was recorded by stationary and other cameras.

• The license of 44 drivers were revoked for 30 days after they committed serious traffic offenses.
• About 40 vehicles were impounded for 30 days to the police storage area for offenses committed by their drivers.
• About 900 drivers were caught driving above the speed limit by police officers stationed with radar guns.
• More than 640 summonses were recorded against truck drivers as their vehicles had safety and road worthiness issues.
