Rachel Azariyah Calls For Removal Of National Authority For Road Safety Signs In Kiryat Yovel

Following the publication of signs on behalf of the National Authority for Road Safety in the mixed neighborhood of Kiryat Yovel, Jerusalem mayoral candidate Rachel Azariah wrote to the Jerusalem Municipality and the authority, demanding that the signs be removed:

“Signs that do not display women and girls cannot be the response to the phenomenon in which extremist chareidim tear them down. This is tantamount to giving these extremists a prize. I demand that the municipality and the National Road Safety Authority immediately remove them and place signs in Kiryat Yovel that address both children and children.”

Azariah added that, “State authorities cannot cooperate with this extremism. Every girl and woman should know that she is a part of the public domain.”

Azariah’s comments follow a period during which chareidi extremists in Yerushalayim tore her campaign posters off of Egged buses as they objected to the adds which show a woman.
