Disturbed Individual Smashes Window to Rav Kanievsky’s Home on Friday Night, Tries To Gain Entry

There was drama on Friday night after davening in the home of HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, at 23 Rashbam Street in Bnei Brak.

According to a BeChadrei Chareidim report, after davening, a disturbed individual tried to enter the Gadol Hador’s home. When the gabbaim realized who the individual was, they did not permit him to enter the rav’s home. This lead to loud shouts by the individual, who then tried to enter via a window, smashing it to gain entry, which he did not succeed in doing. However, this led to glass shards flying in all directions. B’chasdei Hashem, no one was injured in the unfortunate incident.

Many persons appear daily at the rav’s home, seeking a bracha and or advice, including roshei yeshivos and public officials. According to one of the bnei bayis, “It is a miracle this does not occur daily, for many disturbed individuals come to the home too unfortunately.”

Rav Kanievsky, who is over 90, receives the public daily with the exception of Tuesdays, on which he serves as a sandek, and at times, for as many as seven Brissim on one day.

  1. It seems that lately almost everytime someone does something bad , he’s labeled as a disturbed individual or its from a small fringed group.
When will the rabbanim learn that there are also everyday normal people who commit stabbings, throw shtenders and smash windows.
