Motzei Shabbos News Round-Up From Israel


An Israeli driver reported having a flaming bone thrown at him while he was driving to Ma’aleh Adumim from Jerusalem. The incident took place near the Palestinian town of Isawia on Motzei Shabbos.

In a separate incident, terrorists threw at least eight molotov cocktails at the Shu’afat checkpoint in Jerusalem. According to reports from the scene, a number of other molotov cocktails were thrown but didn’t explode. The unexploded incendiary bombs were taken by Israeli security forces for investigation.

A balloonbomb was found on Motzei Shabbos in a makolet parking lot in Kibbutz Givat Brennet which is in te Brenner Regional council. The Kibbutz is located approximately two kilometers south of Rehovot. A citizen who saw the balloon put out the conflagration and then summoned police tot he scene.

The Israeli police issued a statement that said: “In any instance in which a person sees a suspicious object or balloon bomb, they should immediately contact police at 100 and go as far away from the location of the bomb as possible until the bomb disposal unit of the police can arrive and defuse the device.”

During the riots on Friday along the Gaza border with Israel, a number of Gazan terrorists broke through the border fence into Israel. Some of them were killed on sight, others fled back across the border. According to a report that circulated in Israeli media on Saturday night, one terrorist engaged in physical combat with an Israeli soldier who chose not to shoot the terrorist as he approached.

The terrorist was carrying a knife and hid behind a ramp. A soldier saw the terrorist and instead of shooting at him, yelled at him to run. The terrorist grabbed the soldier by his vestand attempted to stab him. The soldier managed to kick the terrorist in the face and then once his life was in clear danger, shot the terrorist and killed him.

A high-ranking IDF officer told Israeli media outlet 0404, that more than 1,000 hand grenades, and explosive devices were hurled at Israeli security forces by Gazans over the past few days.

Many of the explosive devices exploded, but according to the officer, many did not. Those that didn’t were neutralized by IDF sappers. Th explosive devices were lined with screws, nuts, bolts and other small metal items in order to create more shrapnel and increase the damage they cause.

A 59-year-old man was moderatelywounded on Motzei Shabbos after he was stabbed during a violent altercation on Yefet Street in Tel Aviv. The man was treated by Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah EMS teams at the scene before he was transported to the hospital for further care. Police have arrested a suspect from Rishon LeZion who is suspected of the incident.

IDF and security forces along the Gaza border killed a number of terrorists who had broken through the border fence, placed an explosive device which detonated near the soldiers, and caused a fire in the vicinity of the of the outpost the soldiers were stationed in. Some 15,000 terrorists set tires on fire, threw stones and explosive devices at security forces which included hand grenades and molotov cocktails. IDF forces used anti-riot ammunition in conjunction with the protocols of opening fire on a crowd. According to Arab media reports some 7 terrorist were killed and another 225 were injured.

Firefighters, security forces and staff from Keren Kayemet L-Yisrael were bus all day Satruday putting out fires in Be’eri forest that were ignited by balloon bombs.

A balloon bomb was found in the Ein Kerem neighborhood of Jerusalem. Police investigated the incident and conducted a search of the area in an effort to locate any more devices.

Another bomb wa found on Friday on Highway 38 near the city of Beit Shemesh. Police neutralized the device and conducted a search of the area for any additional devices. None were found.

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman ordered that all gas supply into Gaza be halted due to the continued terror attacks and violent protests coming from inside the strip.

A 19-year-old male, armed with a large knife was stopped at the Eliyahu junction by staff of the checkpoint appointed by the Defense Ministry. Upon be questioned, the terrorist admitted that he was on his way to kill Jews and that he had planned to carry out a terror attack.

Two people were killed and another five were injured in a three-car-collision on Highway 25, between Tzafit intersection and the Arava intersection.

A 70-year-old man drowned to death at Sironit Beach in Netanya.

Three people were injured in a car accident that took place on Highway 90 near the Koach intersection.

A 25-year-old and a 19-year-old were both injured after the motorcycle that they were riding was involved in a motor vehice accident on Usishkin Street in Jerusalem.

A 19-year-old male was injured in an act of violence in Rishon Lezion. The incident occurred on the Tayelet Road and saw one person suffering from stab wound.
