Hadassah Hospitals Celebrate 100 Years of Medical Care in Israel


Last Thursday, a special Gala event was held in Jerusalem to commemorate 100 years of Hadassah Hospitals in Israel sponsored by Hadassah women’s organization. During the  event, the organization honored Israel’s border police and presented an award of recognition to officer Yarden Daushin, who was injured in a terror attack in the Old City of Jerusalem on June 16th, 2018. Daushin suffered an eye injury and his eyes were saed by the optometry department of Hadassah Hospital.

Some 200 women from the Hadassah Women’s organization took part in the special evening that marked the hundredth anniversary of the hospital and its nursing school. Ellen Hershkin, the current President of Haddasah Women said: “We chose to honor the soldiers of the Border Police Unit for their continuing bravery in protecting the citizens of Israel, and specifically in Jerusalem.”

Daushin made a full recovery thanks to the treatment and surgery that he received at the hospital. He has since returned to active duty.

Hershkin added: “Hadassah Women’s organization has always been a partner in building the State of Israel and the Zionist dream. Today we celebrate 70 years of Israeli sovereignty together with 100 years of Hadassah’s Hospitals and training schools.So many achievements. We at Hadassah Women are proud to be part of the dream, the building and support of all of these beautiful institutions.”
