Election Brawl Involving Peleg Members Leads To Pepper Spray & Fire Bomb In Beit Shemesh

A brawl broke out on Thursday night in a chareidi area of Ramat Beit Shemesh between yeshiva bochrim and members of the Peleg Yerushalmi faction surrounding the upcoming municipal elections.

It appears members of the Peleg arrived with vehicles in the Kiryat Chareidit in the city and began hanging election posts. Bochrim from the yeshiva came out and removed them promptly.

A violent brawl erupted between the sides including smashing the windshield of one vehicle of the Peleg group. This was followed by the use of pepper spray by one of the Peleg activists who is a resident of the area. This lead to someone throwing a firebomb at the family home of the Peleg bochur who used pepper spray R”L.

Kikar Shabbos News reports the firebomb B’chasdei Hashem only led to minor damage in the home.

During the predawn hours of Monday, about seven cars with Peleg activists arrived, reportedly at about 3:00AM. A significant police force was quick to respond to maintain order, as seen in the accompanying photos.

  1. While the “spiritual” leader of peleg was niftar last year, these Peleg idiots still continue to rage out of control. I was hoping once he was gone, there might be some rabbonim who would step in and bring these zelots under control but it appears its business as usual.

  2. shut up Gadolhadoress. i was waiting for you to comment something stupid. you saying that rav shmuel aurbachs spirituality should be put in quotes severely questions the fact that you are sane.

  3. Would someone explain how Peleg
who were into Defying the state
and it’s Procedures could go with so little conscience to the courts against Pindrus

  4. Gadolhadorah attacked frum jews?
At least she didnt firebomb anyone.
Rav Chaim K referred to rav shmuel as a zakein mamrei. The actions of his followers reinforce that title.
Stop defending fake judaism, and dump these haskalanicks with the reform where they belong.

  5. Yes, I have and will continue to “attack’ (in quotation marks) so called FRUM yidden et every opportunity when those so called “frum” yiidden act like a bunch of terrorists and hooligans to attack (w/o quotation marks) the security forces, vandalize public and private property, make the lives of hundreds of thousands of Israelis trying to commute to and from work miserable, place lives in danger etc. Likewise, it believe it is proper to put the term “spiritual” in quotation marks when addressing leadership of such a bunch of hooligans. There is ZERO spirituality involved in such disgusting behavior. It is not Rav Auerbach’s gadlus at issue….it is those who invoke his name to justify their animal-like behavior. If this is your notion of “Daas Torah” , its real easy to see why you adopt that as your screen name.
P.S. And no, I will not “shut up” and will continue to express opinions that clearly differ from your own.

  6. @Gadolhadorah,
i dont know why posting posters (“animal like behavior”????!?!?!?!) wouldn’t be supported by rav shmuel zatzal (especialy if it was his party.)

  7. I’m not necessarily the biggest supporter of Peleg, but please re-read this article and you will see that it seems to point all blame at the other side. I’m just quoting going to quote from the article, in order, no important omissions, nor duplicity. Watch…

“Peleg … began hanging election posts.” – That’s allowed.
“Bochrim from the yeshiva came out and removed them.” – Not good.

“A violent brawl erupted between the sides including smashing the windshield of one vehicle of the Peleg group.” – Clearly the other side must have done that. Not good.

“This was followed by the use of pepper spray by one of the Peleg activists who is a resident of the area.” – Could be not good, could be good. But pepper spray is generally a defensive item.

“This lead to someone throwing a firebomb at the family home of the Peleg bochur” – Clearly the other side must have done that. Not good.

If you criticise Peleg from reading this article then you are clearly biased and tainted with cognitive dissonance. Again, I’m not saying I necessarily support Peleg, but this article implies they are more victims here than provocateurs.

  8. I have to agree with the implications of “It is Time for Truth ” – something inconsistent if not out right hypocritical about denying the legitimacy of the state while going in to politics and other state organs at the same time.

  9. A truely “great gaon” would not be yoresh his crown to a cadre of hotheaded violent thugs who distort and besmirch Torah true Judaism. We are forced to conclude therefore, that he was not among the great men of Israel deserving of this title.
