A fire was reported on Monday on Lapidot Street in Meah Shearim. Heavy black smoke emanated from the burning structure, and with the assistance of police, firefighters evacuated the neighboring girl�s school. A number of LP gas tanks which were on fire were extricated from the fire before they exploded B�H.

Fire department officials report firemen placed themselves in significant danger to pull the tanks out of the flames, well-aware of what would occur if they blew up.

Fire officer, Reshef Oren Avrahami explains the response was quick, and upon arrival, the first units saw acrid smoke bellowing from �the temporary structure that was built atop of a roof�. They searched to determine no one was trapped inside, and simultaneously, evacuated the neighboring girl�s school.

The fire is under investigation. B�chasdei Hashem, there were no fatalities or injuries.
