2 Shevat Is The Date Set For Elections In Telshe Stone

Following the petira of Avraham Rosenthal Z”L, new elections are set to take place in Telshe Stone on Tuesday, 2 Shevat, coinciding with January 8, 2019.

With the Interior Ministry’s announcement of the date, the turbulence surrounding elections in the chareidi municipality has been renewed as persons who were close to the late mayor remain adamantly opposed to Yitzchak Ravitz becoming the next mayor despite being backed by HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein Shlita. He is the obvious candidate as he was serving as the deputy mayor and was set to take the slot after Rosenthal served another year in office.

Among those against Ravitz assuming the mayoral post is the late mayor’s widow, who penned a letter to Telshe Stone’s councilmen on motzei Shabbos, pointing out how much pain and suffering Ravitz caused her late husband, asking them to prevent Ravitz from taking his place and sitting in his chair.

For the time being, it is not known if anyone is going to run against Ravitz.
