Police Apprehend Suspect Carrying Improvised Guns in Umm al-Fahm

According to a statement released on Sunday evening, Israeli police apprehended a 26-year-old resident of Taibe who was carrying improvised and illegal weapons in the town of Umm al-Fahm.

During regular patrols of officers at the Umm al-Fahm station, two figures were spotted acting suspiciously after they attempted to flee the area where the police were walking. During the chase that ensued, one of the two people was caught and arrested. In the searches that were conducted in the area following the arrest, three improvised rifles were found. The rifles were modeled after the Carl Gustav rifles and, like all guns, are illegal to be carried without a permit in Israel.

These weapons, having no serial numbers nor identification marks are also highly illegal. The suspect will be brought for an arraignment hearing tomorrow in the Magisterial court of Hadera.
