Famed Journalist Caroline Glick Joins “The New Right”; Bennet & Shaked Wooing Additional Notables

Hayamin HeHadash (or “The New Right”) party leader Naftali Bennett, Ayelet Shaked, and Israeli journalist Caroline Glick

“I’m very excited today about joining the New Right, and joining together with people who are totally dedicated to Zionism and love of the Land [of Israel],” said world renowned journalist Caroline Glick, the first recruit of Ayelet Shaked and Naftali Bennett for their new political party Hayamin HeHadash, “The New Right”.

Bennett announced that Glick was joining the party on various social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.

“Caroline Glick, a brave Zionist warrior, has joined the New Right party. Welcome, Caroline!”

“Together, we will work to defend Israel, strengthen its security, and implement truly right-wing policies. This is a very exciting day for me, and I call on everyone who has the Zionist spirit within them – secular or religious – to come and join us, we’re your home,” said Glick.

A U.S. born immigrant and senior fellow at the Center for Security Policy, Glick has served as a chief-columnist for The Jerusalem Post and Breitbart News. She has also written for Maariv and Makor Rishon. Glick is secular and resides in the town of Efrat located in Gush Etzion just south of Israel’s capital.

“Caroline is a courageous woman and a Zionist warrior,” Bennett said. “Together with her, we are putting together a team for the Israeli right which will expand the right-wing bloc, so that Israel can go back to winning.”

“She brings with her experience and understanding of Israeli society coming from her many years as a journalist and writer. As someone who was born in the US and immigrated to Israel to serve in the IDF, Caroline symbolizes the essence of Zionism and the link between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. Caroline is knowledgeable and articulate, and has strong right-wing positions, and is unapologetic about it.”

“Her addition will strengthen the list we are putting together, and with her, we will enlarge the right-wing bloc. There are more surprises yet to come,” Bennett added.

The party aims to bring together religious as well as secular voters who are on the right-wing side of the political spectrum in Israel.

According to a report by Yehuda Schlesinger and Yair Altman in the Wednesday morning edition of Yisrael Hayom, Bennet & Shaked have approached a number of individuals in the hope of bringing them on board.

The report states they have approached Ofer Berkowitz, who heads the Hisorarus party and recently lost in his bid to become the next mayor of Jerusalem. Berkowitz, who is known as a social activist, is not know for being in the right-wing camp, yet Bennet and Shaked seem to feel his popularity will bring votes. The report of reaching out to Berkowitz has led to criticism from right-wingers who disapprove of their breaking from the Bayit Yehudi party.

Others who were reportedly approached to join the party include retired IDF Major-General Doron Almog, who is a respected former senior IDF officer.

Also listed is bereaved mom, Mrs. Miriam Peretz, who lost two sons in military service, yet continues speaking around the country, having become a source of inspiration for patriots and bereaved families alike.

Both Peretz and Almog have indicated they have no desire to enter into politics. That said, they would not be the first to enter an election race after first declining an offer to do so.

KAN Reshet Bet News added that Bennet has also turned to former IDF Chief Rabbi, retired brigadier-general, Rabbi Rafi Peretz. He has yet to respond.
