According to Israels Health Ministry, 40% of eggs tested from 10 major distributors in Israel contain the environmental pollutant dioxin, a potentially highly toxic chemical that can attack ones immune system.
The amount of dioxin found in eggs inspected in a special laboratory in Holland shows 70 times the permitted level of the chemical.
The ministry has halted deliveries from these suppliers as it continues efforts to ascertain the source of the problem.
