Ramat Gan Chief Rabbi Rav Yaakov Ariel Shlita announces that he has yet to decide if he will run for the position of Israel’s next Ashkenazi chief rabbi. The rav has recently been quoted as saying that he has decided to enter the race, but the rav is now saying he hasn’t decided and he has not released any official statement indicating his intentions.
The Srugim website affiliated with the dati leumi community reports this is the case, citing gabbaim to the rav insist reports to the contrary including one by Kikar Shabbat are incorrect, as the rav has not made up his mind regarding his candidacy.

90% of what you read is incorrect, 80% of what you hear is taken out of context, so therefore….
Rav Areil’s reluctance to enter the race is typical of his thoughtful and unassuming manner, where everything he does is l’Shem Shomayim as opposed to for ego or personal gain.
It was a great tragedy for all yidden that he did not become Rav haRashi 10 years ago and was defeated through scandalous tactics.
