Beginning on Friday, February 15, 2019, IDF combat soldiers heading home for weekends will be able to enjoy a free workout in a Holmes Place or Go Active gym around Israel. The new arrangement is the result of a joint initiative which involves both Holmes Place and the Yachad (Together for Israeli Soldiers) organization.
It is reported that a recent survey conducted by Panels Institute involving 250 combat soldiers reveals that 86% of them work out when off from the army on a regular basis, with 72% preferring a run while 40% look for a gym close to home.
Chairman of Holmes, Richie Hunter, told the Jerusalem Post, that in response to learning this, the decision was made to open the gyms for the combat soldiers, leading to the initiative with Yachad, with the organization’s officials explaining that maintaining the fitness of the combat soldiers is of paramount importance.
