Violent Hafganos in Kikar Shabbos on Thursday Night [VIDEO & PHOTOS]

Traffic was brought to a halt in Kikar Shabbos, Thursday night, as hundreds of Chareidim protested.

Dumpsters were set ablaze as the protesters closed the streets.

Hundreds of people were stuck on buses, as traffic backed up for blocks.

Local angry residents took matters into their own hands, as they became physical with protesters to try and reopen the street.

Police eventually arrived, and arrests were made.

As can be expected, as arrests were made, the usual shouts of “Nazis!” and other degrading words were yelled at police. Dirty diapers and other trash were thrown at police.

  1. What a relief! It’s been so quiet for the past few weeks, I was beginning to think that maybe the extremists had gone out of business. And then what could YWN put up as breaking news headlines? Fortunately, there’s obviously nothing to worry about. YWN still will have plenty of extremist actions on which to report.

  2. ”Violent Hafganos in Kikar Shabbos on Thursday Night ” How violent? as violent as Venezuelas protests? Unbelievable yeshivishe world you reitz on the oilam hatorah with your over sensationalized reports? your not going to change anything trust me

  3. I understand that these protests are against those who desecrate Shabbos. The desecrators are guilty of the avi=eirah of desecrating Shabbos, they are not frum. But the demonstrators are supposedly frum, and their aveirah is much greater; they are embarassing Yidden for all to see: frum yidden, chiloni yidden, goyim, Arabs. They are being, “malbin pne chaveiro”, barabim they are showing worst their animalistic behaviors for all to see. They’re fueling our enemies.

  4. Well done YWN!
You have shown us hafganos without one word mentioned what it is all about. You are right. Nobody needs to know other than ba’alei machlokes are out there protesting, making machlokess, disturbing everyone’s leil shishi that should be spent starting to build up towards kabolas Shabbos Menucha. People who are dressed as charedim but appear to be very far from being charedim, fearful of the majesty of Shomayim are out there promoting what?? Sure, they will say it is against this, that or the other. Whatever it is, that is just an excuse of the yetzer hora working on blackening the name of sincere frum Yidden. Scrap the word “charedim”. These people haven’t got a clue what it means and what the behaviour of a truly “fearful” individual should be like. Fearful of only one thing is missing and that is Yiras Shomayim. Good Shabbos.

  5. I don’t mean to be blaming the victim but it’s not like this is the first time people have set the dumpsters on fire. They have been installing these futuristic garbage cans all over Jerusalem. I think they should’ve installed them there first. It wouldn’t have prevented the rest of the madness in this protest but at least there wouldn’t be garbage thrown at people and dumpsters in the street with some dumpsters set on fire.

  6. how dare we degrade the tzioni police. i remind ywn and the chiul hashem police that

godol kamachtio yoser min ha’hargo the tzionim are reshaim aruruim as stated in many sefarim

so whether it is nazis or reshaim arruruim its all the same chill out

most of the police are goyim or not bechlal achicha

i think rav shteinman said on lapid yemach shemo.

  7. Degrading words? The police deserve it. They degrade the Charedim by tossing them in jail for not wanting to join the wicked army that aims to turn them into Israelis. Get an education boys before you try to be journalists.

  8. Once again YWN with their agenda!!!
Can’t give up on one opportunity!
Refoil Moishe- Don’t go for all this propaganda.

  9. (TryingToStayCalm is poshet saying the truth, theres really not much you can argue about. there is such a bilbul hamachos these days, its terrible, and the comments of Bubby B, Geordie613 , and Refoel Moishe really demonsrate that. sad.)
ashreichem yisroel!! this is beautiful! hashem should save us from all gzeiros kashos.

  10. What a terrifying Kitrug that they have placed upon their mentor upon his 1st Johrzeit on Thursday daytime. This is no way whatsoever to commemorate a Johrzeit.

  11. Geordie613, I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but the facts are Rav Shteinman Zatzal did say that about Lapid as was reported by this very outlet (http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/news/headlines-breaking-stories/183880/maran-rav-shteinman-shlita-lapid-yemach-shemo.html).

    GULP!

It should be noted that ALL Gedolei Yisrael have supported protests and protests have always been a reliable tool used by Chareidi Jewry in Israel.

When archeologists were digging up Graves and exhuming bones near Chevron, Rav Shteinman Zatzal was one of the Gedolim who instructed every person to dedicate 3 days a month to go protest. And yes, some of these protests got a bit lively. But Gedolim always recognized the need to protest, especially when dealing with Giyus Banos. What YWN failed to mention is that a frum girl is currently sitting in jail, and that’s why they’re protesting.

I have made this challenge before, and I present it again: Name one competent Gadol/Rav that says it is forbidden to protest against Giyus Banos. There are no Gedolim who have come out against it, because as the Chazon Ish paskened (and was recently reiterated by the Sar Hatorah Rav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita), Giyus Banos is בגדר יהרג ואל יעבור, and one is obligated to do everything possible to prevent such a thing from taking place.

Now, after the clear Da’as Torah on the matter, is their any room for criticism?

  12. I am not trying to protect the policemen I live in Israel and know exactly what goes on here ,but to write “the policemen deserve it” is pathetic. HaShem is the one to punish them not us bye doing a chillul Hashem.
To get violent and call our brothers nazis is crossing the limit trust me they have NO permission from gedolei yisrael to act like this.
I don’t believe people here are saying that their actions are okay
and I am NOT a zionist at all, but please let us not 4get basic middos and derech eretz.
There hafganot are not helping just making a huge chillul Hashem .

  13. Listen all you Americans who live in the clouds, you think this is wilding, a night on the town? Protests just erupted for the fun of it? A Jewish girl is sitting in military prison. And these tzadickim care enough to do something about it while you sit around and eat pizzas in your plush living rooms.

  14. “…we who live here (in Eretz Yisroel) do not have the ability to do anything… because the government is in the hands of the resha’im, as is all of the media… however, the rabbanim of Chutz l’Aretz, along with the shomrei Torah [there], certainly have an obligation to raise an outcry against every offense and attack on the holy Torah, because they [the Israeli government] still fear the demonstrations of Yidden in Chutz l’Aretz which have so far prevented them from taking even more drastic steps…”

(Sefer Kraina d’Igresa, letter 249, from the Steipler Gaon zt”l)

  15. What a bunch of bored people we have, they have no idea whatsoever how to do anything properly in life besides for creating hafganos and as a result creating a chilul Hashem… seriously people, grow up AND GET A JOB!!!
