Ashdod: Stabbed His Neighbor, Phoned Police & Then Attacked Them Too

Police in Ashdod early Sunday morning, shortly after 3:00AM received a call from a man who reportedly stabbed someone on Rabbi Kook Street in the city. Police responded and began checking the building, finding blood stains on the fourth floor. However, they did not find the caller in the apartment as they expected would be the case.

Police continued the search by following the blood trail, which led them to a third-floor apartment. They entered and were then attacked with a man holding a knife. Police fired at the attacker. One policeman was lightly injured by the knife. The attacker was listed in serious condition. In addition, police learned the attacker seriously wounded a neighbor earlier, as he reportedly said he did, after he entered his fourth-floor apartment.

No additional information is provided by police at this time regarding a possible motive for the initial attack and the subsequent attack against police.
