Meretz Sees A Future In The Education Ministry In A Coalition Government Headed By Gantz

Meretz party chairwoman, MK Tamar Zandberg, told the press that she sees her party sitting in a coalition government headed by Benny Gantz. She also leveled criticism at the Labor party for refusing to unite with Meretz and run under a joint ticket as she tried to arrange. Most polls show the extreme left-wing party earning five seats in the upcoming Knesset election, scheduled for Tuesday, April 9, 2019.

Speaking during an interview with 103FM Radio, she lamented the failed talks with Labor before the deadline to submit party lists last week, adding if Meretz enters a coalition headed by Gantz, it will request the Education Ministry.

She explained that “the democratic system offered a unique opportunity”, in her description of efforts to unite with Labor, as she feels the Labor party missed a critical opportunity towards assisting in overthrowing the current coalition and to replace it with a new reality.

She concluded by speaking about her desire to serve as Israel’s Minister of Education, “to replace Smotrich or Ben-Givir” as she put it, concluding, “I think that all Israelis see the possibility of bringing Kahanists into Knesset and can imagine another reality!”
